Making Clear Decisions for Your Wedding

Decisions, decisions, decisions. How should I wear my hair? Should I wear it up? Should I wear it down? Maybe something straight? But what if it rains? Maybe I’ll add extensions? I’m thinking about color. I’m not sure what to do. I'm going to just wait. The mind of the bride is constantly battling with finding the right answers for all of these questions that leads to creating the details of your wedding. Are you battling with making the right decisions for your wedding hair, makeup, colors, choosing the right vendors or just wedding planning period?

I am writing this as genuine encouragement for every bride or groom that’s preparing for the wedding but feels a little overwhelmed or needs clarity on making the right decisions for your wedding day. Here’s a few tips to consider that will help you with any decision making for your wedding.

Invite God in.

Can I let you know you're not in this alone? God is with you every step of the way as you are on your journey to the altar. He will never leave you no matter how challenging it gets either. It may seem safe to always ask a friend or those closest to you for validation of your thoughts and opinions but sometimes too many opinions can overwhelm you as well. There’s a level of peace that God can bring when you ask Him for guidance when making choices. He has such a gentle way of doing things for you.

Matthew 6:33 ESV But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

So, this means when you keep God first over everything in your life everything will fall in place for you. Sometimes we can struggle trying to do things in our own strength and it makes things a lot harder than if we just trust God with it. God knows all things so it’s definitely a great thing to trust Him with the things you don’t know or struggle with.

Favor is found when we put God first. Rest in God’s plan for your wedding and it’ll be found favorable. You start to see Him move in areas that you never thought about. He’ll start blessing you in surprisingly little ways where you know it was nobody but God. He loves when we trust him with our lives and also over our wedding plans.

Write the vision and make it plain

Before you start looking for vendors and planning for the wedding, write the vision and make it plain. Write it down as clearly and detailed as possible. When you write it down it’s the proof that God heard you. He’ll start to guide you in certain directions to fulfill your vision. You will be able to look back at the vision you write after your wedding is over and see that God manifested your vision and prayers. All it takes is for you to believe he can do it.

Rest. Trust the process. Don’t over think.

So you’ve prayed, wrote the vision, now what? Have you been overthinking and now your overthinking is leading you to having anxieties and worrying about your hair? Rest. Anytime you feel overwhelmed with the things that are out of your control, take a step back, surrender and rest in His assurance. Trust the process. Don’t race through the process. It’s a journey not a race. And remember you are not alone. Don’t overthink it. Do be sure to talk things over with your trusted hairstylist. I’m sure they can guide you through the process to help you make the right decision for you.

Everything on your wedding day is going to be amazing. Just rest and trust the process.
